views fr e ground in johor..

i'd been interviewing ppl for an admin post in jb, n one of e comments i came across was all e person wished of e govt was, provision of a place where it is safe to live&move around & economic creation of jobs (that pay a reasonable salary). In e state, general security (& police governance) as well as work opportunities are 2key issues.
There is a whole sector of locals who are in need of a decent job.

This week, Catherine Lim's (a famous writer) sister died from e blow of a hammer from group of motorbiker snatch-thieves. Most residents of johor worry of thefts, break-in to their homes and being hurt/killed in a robbery.

The townships are often hot n concretised, with rubbish over-flowing in e back alleys (& sometimes right along e main streets).. garbage-collection is erratic & infrequent, with collection intervals between 3days to over a week!
It saddens me to see e beautiful place marred by a lack of organisation & basic municipal support.

Que to figure-out:
How to shake up e sluggishness & transform mindsets?
Things to address:
1. job opportunities
2. safety
3. municipal provisions

There are pockets of folks who are really putting something in to make a better difference, but overall, its been a flop. So.... there you go, opportunities to make things right! :) From an optimistic point.
